Okra can be cooked in a variety of ways which makes it nice to have on hand in the garden.
Planting Guide: After the danger of frost has dissipated and soil can be adequately worked (about 10" deep), Okra is ready to be planted in the garden. Sow 1" deep, about 12" apart in rows about 3' apart - allow for adequate drainage. Full sun. Water regularly.
Harvest: 50-60 days - pods can be picked once they are 2-3" in length which will help encourage added production.
Unfriendly Neighbours: Any and all vine plants must be kept at bay...
Tip: Be sure to plant your okra in a different spot each year to ward off unfriendly pests.
