The 'King' of the tomato clan or otherwise known as the 'salsa' tomatoe, the beef steak tomotoe will have your tastebuds dancing in no time!
Where: In full sun - that is what gives them that vibrant colour afterall.
When: Should be sowed indoors until seedlings are about 8" tall and transplanted outdoors once the soil is approximately 16 degrees celcius. Each plant should be positioned at least 2 to 3 ft apart, especially if cages are being used and planted at least 1" deeper than soil height. Stakes will be needed as this robust plant grows as support.
Care: 1-2" of water weekly is best. This plant also likes its fertilizer. Be sure to fertilize every 3 weeks with 1 lb of fertilzer for every 100 sq ft.
Warning: Cabbage and corn often want to take over the kingdom and are threats to the beef steak tomatoe - do not plant them nearby.
Harvest: 85 days traditionally which is why sowing must start indoors to have a positive yield through North America's harvesting season.
All hail to the 'King'!
