Part of the 'Butterhead' Family, Boston Lettuce, is soft, round, succulent and carries a buttery flavour. It is a nice complement to any salad or used as a bed for other dishes. Boston Lettuce also carries some of the best nutritional content compared to some of it's other leafy siblings.
When: After the danger of frost has dissappated - late May, early June.
Sowing directions: Sow no more than 1/2" deep into the soil, a little more than 1" apart. Rows should be 1' - 2' apart at most. Partial sun to shade is best.
Water: 1"-2" of water a week is all it needs. Harvest: 60 to 70 days.
Friendly Neighbours: Beets, carrots, strawberries, asparagus, and onions are great companion plants.
