Succulent leaves accompanied by a crunchy stem - sounds good right? Well... it is! This is one plant where you can make use of the seed on it's own and/or the plant. Moist leaves are often used to add a peppery taste to salads or consumed in delicious, healthy smoothies.
Planting Guide: A fan of the cooler temperatures, plant in early spring or late summer for a fall harvest. Full sun is best. Sow just beneath the soil surface, about 8 inches apart in rows about 2' apart.
Harvest: Small leaves are ready in about 2 weeks and full size in about 3 - it can and should be trimmed to inspire regrowth, but can be cut at whichever stage you desire. Ideal for succession planting.
Note: This plant likes the cooler temperatures - be weary of heat as it will cause bolting. In frostier seasons, cover to prevent freezing.
