Chicory, Variegata di Castelfranco: is a big heading chicory with lots of bright colors, mostly green with red speckles.

Quantity

Variegata di Castelfranco is both vibrant with its green leaves and red freckles, but also another hardy chicory able to withstand some of the cooler north American temperatures.

When: Can be sown in April or once the soil can be worked through to August for a fall harvest.

Planting Guide: Sow 1/4" deep, 4" apart in rows 8" apart. Well-drained, composted soil is best.

Harvest: Can be harvested any time once the leaves have started to open or 'bloom'. The head is ripe once plump and firm - typically around 65 days. Harvest the whole head by slicing right above the soil.

Did you know: Variegata di Castelfranco is a perennial and is named after a small town in the Veneto region of Italy, called Castelfranco.
