This leafy green is not a fan of hot weather so best planted as soon as the winter frost disappears. Each seed produces a stem to which leaves develop. These leaves can be cropped (once they reach approximately 3") and will regenerate at least once or twice throughout the harvesting season.
When: Sow every 2-3 weeks from approximately mid -May and again in late August/September to ensure a autumn crop.
Sowing Directions: Plant seeds approximately 5mm (¼”) deep in well drained soil approximately 3-4 inches apart.
Caution: This plant should not be over-watered - a shower every other day is best - it likes the soil to be 'just right'.
Friendly Neighbours: Arugula is best planted adjacent to companion vegetables such as lettuce, onion, carrots, celery, etc.. Sounds like a good salad in the making!
Harvest: Approximately 30 days after planting
