Chives are a member of the onion family. A friend to cooler temperatures, chives are best planted in spring or late summer for a fall harvest.
Planting Guide: Sow 1/4" deep, in moist, well drained soil, about 2-3" apart after the danger of frost has passed and the soil is warm. Full to partial sun. Fertilizer recommended. Mulch use is ideal.
Harvest: About 60 days or once flowers bloom. Cut about 1" above the soil to encourage regrowth and trim monthly.
Friendly Neighbours: Carrots and tomatoes are ideal neighbours.
