Scotch Bonnet Pepper:  is a cultivar of the habanero and is among the hottest peppers anywhere. If you’ve ever tried a habanero pepper, you know it carries some serious heat.

Scotch Bonnet sounds all sweet and nice, but don't fool yourself - this pepper is fierce on the spice scale! Small, colourful and loaded with spice describes this perennial best.

Planting Guide: Start indoors, about 8-10 weeks before the last seasonal frost. Heat lamp recommended. Full sun. Sow 1/4" deep in well drained containers. Harden before transplant once the soil is above 15 degrees celcius and has been worked. Sow about 6" apart in rows approximately 30" apart. Water regularly. Mulch recommended.Fertilizers nutrient in fish emulsion is recommended. Full sun is required, however, if wilting starts, provide some shade.

Harvest: About 60-90 days after transplant and relative to preference - the longer the pepper is on the plant, the hotter it is in taste. That said, failure to pick at earlier stages will effect overall production of the plant. Use knives or scissors to remove ripened peppers and please wear gloves with this bad-boy to protect hands and face from the capsaicinoids which can burn the skin.
