Whether for stir fries or salads, baby pak choi is a relatively versatile plant and ideal for the Canadian climate as it is temperable to cooler temperatures and more prone to bolting when in extreme heat.

Planting Guide: Ideally started indoors as seedlings are a tad too slug friendly, however, can be directly sown if closely monitored. Sow in early spring or late summer, amidst cooler temperatures. Be sure to provide blanket protection should frost occur. Sow 3/4" deep in pots or broadcast directly on top of the soil. Seedlings should be transplanted about 12" apart. Keep soil moist. Full to partial sun. Tip: Grass clippings will help to add nutrients to the soil and maintain moisture.

Harvest: About 45-60 days - leaves for salads can be trimmed at about the 45 day mark, however, the full plant can be harvested at around 60 for stir fries. If clipping leaves, the plant will regenerate.

Friendly Neighbours: The best neighbours to keep unwanted pests at bay are radishes, garlic and onions.
