Loaded with potassium and other healthy vitamins, savoy cabbage is a favourite with cabbage lovers due to its sweeter taste and texture. Best of all for most Canadian gardeners, it is the most cold hardy of all cabbages!
Planting Guide: Plant as soon as the soil can be worked in early spring. Sow 1/2" deep, spaced 12"-18" apart in rows 24" apart in well-drained soil. Full sun. Water regularly - about 1" per week. Due to the length of their growing season, these can be started indoors 6-8 weeks prior to the last seasonal frost. Be sure to harden before transplant.
Harvest: 70-110 days - it should be relatively firm at the center prior to harvest. To harvest, cut at the base.
Tip: Be sure to rotate this crop in your garden every few years to help keep unwanted pests at bay.
