A member of the bok choi family, this Chinese Cabbage is also great for stir fries or salads and is a bit more heat tolerant (less prone to bolting in heat) than some of its counterparts. It is however, not a fan of cooler temperatures. This plant is recognized for its shorter stem by comparison to other cabbage varieties.
Planting Guide: Sow in summer or early fall as this plant does best in warmer climates. Sow 3/4" deep, 12" apart in well drained soil, rows about 16" apart. Keep soil moist. Full to partial sun. Tip: Grass clippings will help to add nutrients to the soil and maintain moisture.
Harvest: About 45-60 days - leaves for salads can be trimmed at about the 45 day mark, however, the full plant can be harvested at around 60 for stir fries. If clipping leaves, the plant will regenerate.
Friendly Neighbours: The best neighbours to keep unwanted pests at bay are radishes, garlic and onions.
