Popular in salads or sauteed, this leafy green is a bit more hardier than most lettuces, loaded with healthy vitamins and a bit more bitter too. Endive Batavian is a great garden addition -at the start or nearing the end of the season as it is a bit more friendly to cooler temperatures.
Planting Guide: Can ideally be sown a few weeks prior to the last frost date or at the tail end of the summer season as temperatures begin to cool. Sow 1/2" deep, about 2" apart in moist soil, in rows about 1-2 feet apart.
Harvest: About 80-100 days, once leaves are about 5-6" in length. Cut the plant just above the soil base to encourage regrowth.
What better way to get your healthy vitamins in than through your food?
