In search of the 'golden heart'? Look no further... Similar to a lettuce, this veggie is chalked full of vitamins, minerals and is great for the digestive system. A yellow center embraced by big, frilled curly leaves describes this endive best. Ideally suited to a fall harvest and recommended blanching prior too for best flavour.
Planting Guide: Sow after the last seasonal frost once the danger of frost is gone and the soil has warmed. Sow 1/2" deep in well drained soil about 10-12" apart in rows about 20" apart. These can be started indoors and transplanted later in season. Full sun if sowing earlier in season to partial sun if mid season sowing. Water regularly.
Harvest: 60-80 days. If blanching, tie the middle leaves together with a string and rubber band a few weeks before harvesting. Harvest by cutting at the base.
