A little more resilient to cooler temperatures, this dark green lettuce is ideal for early spring sowing or autumn planting as well. A member of the chicory family, this lettuce is crisp and sweetest when sowed in the cooler times of the season versus in peak heat.
Planting Guide: Sow just beneath the surface, about 8-12" apart in rows about 12-18" apart. Full to partial sun. Water regularly, but try to avoid the leaves which are prone to rot if they get too wet. Mulch helps in retaining soil moisture.
Harvest: Full heads should be available in 75-100 days, however leaves can be trimmed as the plant continues to grow. If blanching is desired, outer leaves can be tied together 2-3 weeks before harvest to shade the inner leaves of the plant.
